Placed all your beads — now how do you fuse them into one solid piece? This guide walks through ironing in 3 steps, the right temperature and time, and how to fix melted, loose or curling beads. ⚠️ Ironing uses high heat — an adult should always do it.
STEP 1-3

Iron perler beads in 3 steps

1
Cover with paper
Lay a sheet of ironing paper (parchment or bead paper) over the beads. Never use plain paper — it sticks and ruins the piece.
2
Iron at medium heat
Set the iron to medium (~275–300°F / cotton). Move it in slow circles over the paper — don't press one spot so the heat is even.
3
Flip and iron again
Once the bead edges fuse and look glossy, carefully flip and iron the other side. Both sides = stronger and flatter.
How to tell it's done: the gaps between beads close up and the surface goes slightly glossy. If beads still look separate and lift when touched, keep ironing a bit more.

FIXES

Something went wrong?

Melted / warped
Too hot or too long. Permanent — use lower heat and less time next time. Slight curl can be pressed flat while warm.
Falls apart
Not enough heat or time — beads didn't fuse. Cover with paper and iron a bit more.
Edges curl up
Edges weren't heated. Focus on the edges, then press flat under a book to cool.
Sticks to paper
Heat too high. Lower it; don't reuse paper too many times, and peel gently.
FAQ

Common questions

QWhat temperature?

Medium, ~275–300°F (cotton). Start lower, add if needed. Better low-and-slow than too hot.

QHow long per side?

20–60 seconds, slow circles, until edges fuse and the surface is glossy.

QBoth sides?

Yes. One side is weak; both sides holds together much better.

QMelted — can I fix it?

Melting is permanent; use lower heat next time. Slight curl: press flat while warm, weigh down to cool.

⚠️ Safety: irons get very hot. An adult should do all the ironing — kids just place the beads. Watch for burns, don't touch the iron plate, and keep the area ventilated.
